About the Firm

A practice built around the part most lawyers rush past.

The conversation, the explanation, the returned call.

Eisenmenger Family Law was built on a simple conviction: that the person walking through a divorce or custody case deserves to understand what's happening at every step, and to never feel like they're going through it alone.

The First Step

A confidential conversation. No commitment, no pressure.

01

Why This Firm Exists

Built to be the opposite of the experience that left you in the dark.

If you've talked to lawyers before, you may have noticed how easy it is to walk out of a meeting more confused than when you walked in. The law gets explained in a language you don't speak. The retainer gets quoted before the situation gets understood. And once the case is underway, the calls slow down and the questions pile up.

The most common complaint people have about family lawyers isn't that they lost a motion. It's that they were left in the dark, surprised by the bill, and made to feel like a case number during the most frightening season of their lives. We built our practice to refute that on every count.

02

What Makes the Model Different

Family law, and only family law.

We do family law, and only family law. Many Louisville firms practice family law alongside criminal defense, personal injury, estate work, or tax. We don't. Divorce, custody, support, adoption, and the decisions around them are not a department here—they are the entire practice, and have been for nearly two decades.

You work directly with Michelle. Your case isn't handed down to whoever is available. You work with Michelle L. Eisenmenger, supported by a team that keeps you informed. Clients consistently tell us that the responsiveness—the returned calls, the after-hours answer when something couldn't wait—is the part they remember.

We're licensed on both sides of the river. Because the firm is admitted in both Kentucky and Indiana, a cross-border family can often be helped without hiring and coordinating a second attorney in the other state.

03

The Credential

Held to the standard of lawyers who do nothing else.

Michelle is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers—a national, invitation-based fellowship in matrimonial law held by a small fraction of attorneys nationwide, earned through years of practice, peer review, and examination. (Eisenmenger Family Law was also recognized among the Best Divorce Lawyers in Louisville by Expertise.com in 2022.)

The credential isn't the point. What it signals is the point: this is a practice limited to family law, held to the standard of the lawyers who do nothing else.

The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers fellowship is a professional fellowship, not a board certification or specialization.

What Working With Us Looks Like

A process you stay inside of.

01
A confidential first conversation

about where you stand and what you're facing. No pressure.

02
A clear map of your options

under Kentucky (or Indiana) law, and an honest read on what each path asks of you, including cost.

03
A process you stay inside of.

You'll know the next step before it happens, who's handling it, and why.

04
Forward motion,

with someone in your corner until it's resolved.

What Now

You don't have to have it figured out before you reach out.

The first conversation is where the figuring out starts.
